Living a dream. I realise more and more each day how happy you can be if you really do what you love. It all started in 2009, after having worked for Tommy Hilfiger, where I learnt a lot. I decided to take a chance, one I’ll never regret.
I dreamt about starting my own brand. I just could not understand why good knitwear is so difficult to find. I found that knitwear is usually over-priced and the colours vary from blue to grey and more grey. As of that moment I knew where my dream would take me. A knitwear brand!
My goal was to not only to design knitwear, but also to tell the stories behind each collection. ‘A brand with a story’. Friends and family are very important to me, so it’s only natural that they play an important role in the brand. My own life and adventures are closely-knitted together with theirs.
That’s where the name of the brand comes from: ANECDOTE, a collection of moments, each moment is a story, each story is an anecdote. The stories we share with our friends and family. Every ANECDOTE collection is based on one such story. Snapshots of these anecdotes are hidden in the garments, visible on hang-tags, packaging and our bags.
I started out with a basic collection. This included sweaters, cardigans, a woollen dress and a big scarf. Each style came in a wide range of colours and had a high quality finish. In a matter of time the collection has grown in both design and quality. Models have been added, including silk dresses, jumpsuits, ponchos and accessories. We were constantly sourcing for the best knitwear quality. ‘Not high fashion catwalk stuff, but daily wearable styles. The clothes that my friends and I want to wear every day. Nothing more, nothing less.
We work with a very close team and enjoy all stages of the design and production process. You can find our showroom along the canals of Amsterdam, a very inspiring place. Anecdote is sold in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Every ANECDOTE collection still has its own story and is inspired by our everyday stories. We hope you will enjoy wearing anecdote as much as we enjoy making it!
